Hoge Kempen National Park (HKNP) is a vast nature reserve in eastern Limburg, with more than 12,000 hectares of forests, moors, fens, sand flats and impressive biodiversity. The park offers a great opportunity to discover nature in all its splendour, with 10 different sub-areas, each with its own unique characteristics.
The HKNP has five access points nearby that are ideal starting points for your adventure:
Lietenberg
A beautiful nature reserve with forests and moors, ideal for walkers seeking the peace and quiet of nature. The varied landscapes offer plenty of opportunities to explore.
Kattevennen
Kattevennen is the gateway known for its varied nature, from heathland to fens. Here you will also find the C-mine cultural centre, where nature and culture come together perfectly.
Pietersheim
This area offers a mix of forests, fens and ponds, and is also home to Pietersheim Castle. It is a great place for a combination of nature walk and cultural-historical visit.
As railway station
From As train station, you can easily explore the park. The area around Station As has vast forests and sandy plains, perfect for hiking and cycling.
Terhills
Located on the edge of the park, Terhills offers both nature and adventure. It is an excellent base for hiking and cycling tours and also offers the Terhills Cable Park for some extra adventure.
