In Maastricht, you can discover everything about its history at the Vrijthof, the most emblematic square in the city. You can admire two gorgeous buildings here: the Sint-Janskerk and the Sint-Servaasbasiliek. To the south of the city, you can admire the city ramparts. Until the second half of the nineteenth century, Maastricht had ramparts all around the city.
Visit the Céramique neighbourhood with its lovely architecture, and explore this exciting, dynamic and totally different part of the city. Here you will find the Bonnefantenmuseum, right next to the Maas opposite the old city centre.
Don't forget to come and experience Maastricht Underground. Away from the crowd, all dark and mysterious. The Grotten Noord, the Fort Sint Pieter and the Kazematten are the literal foundations of the city.
